We're proud to introduce our Straight Razor to the Proof family of made-in-the-USA, heritage grooming tools.

For generations, the straight razor was the standard. One blade, continually sharpened and used with skill and patience. From the early 1700s through the early 1900s, this was how men shaved. 

But as American manufacturing advanced in the 19th and 20th centuries, replaceable blades became possible to produce at scale, and straight razors with replaceable blades were introduced. Barbers were required to swap in a fresh blade between every client, and they still are today by law in most states. By the 1960-70s, cartridge and plastic razors emerged and the traditional slowness of shaving faded.

The straight razor is one of the most classic heritage tools in shaving. We knew we had to bring this into our lineup because it’s so consistent with our values of honoring the past, slowing down, and providing quality tools.  

We designed a straight razor that uses the same blades as our other razors, keeping things simple and consistent. We included a high-end pivot sourced from a knife-maker that gives it a smooth, confident feel in hand. And included it in a classic bison leather case.

This is a razor you can pick up, learn with, slow down with. At home, or in the shop. A tool built in America, for today’s men who still value ritual.
